As a firm believer in Compassionate Capitalism, I’m not embarrassed to admit that business success and growth is the ultimate aim. But, what do you do when there’s a disharmony, dis-ease, or disorder that’s hindering the progress of your business? When your message isn’t landing exactly as you intend? How do you make sure to avoid misunderstandings?
If tensions and frictions are rife when communicating with your team, then go right back to basics. Start by looking at yourself and really go deep. Consider your mindset and how you communicate with your team. One pretty profound insight is that your truth, while absolutely and unassailably your truth, is not
the
truth.
Add to this that, no conversing partner enters a conversation neutrally, but instead brings a load of baggage – including: lived experiences, perceptions, external influences, even what they may (or may not) have had for breakfast and you can understand why it can be a minefield.
At first, this can absolutely be daunting, but like anything, with practice and persistence you will perfect it. If your strategy is right, and the messaging behind it is also right, then you're sure to achieve great things.
